These Terms of Use govern your use of TextCut, a macOS app and related cloud services for video transcription, speech analysis, and editing assistance.
Operator: TextCut
Contact: Please use the support contact listed on the App Store product page.
1. The Service
TextCut helps users import videos, generate transcripts, review speech, identify possible filler words or pauses, and export edited results. TextCut may include local processing, cloud speech recognition, cloud AI analysis, subscription features, usage credits, and account services.
TextCut is provided for creative, productivity, and editing workflows. It is not intended to provide legal, medical, financial, safety-critical, or professional advice.
2. Eligibility and Accounts
You must be legally able to agree to these Terms and use TextCut in compliance with applicable law. Some features may require Sign in with Apple, an active subscription, usage credits, or access to TextCut Cloud.
3. Local and Cloud Processing
TextCut may process content locally on your Mac or through TextCut Cloud depending on your settings and selected features.
If you choose local transcription without cloud AI analysis, audio, transcript text, and AI decisions remain on your Mac.
If you enable cloud AI analysis, transcript text, timing information, segment identifiers, editing context, and analysis prompts may be sent to TextCut Cloud and third-party large-model providers, including OpenAI, Google, AWS, BytePlus, Qwen.ai, and similar providers we may add or replace over time.
If you use cloud high-accuracy transcription, audio, video-derived audio, related metadata, and transcription job data may be sent to TextCut Cloud and third-party speech recognition or large-model providers, including OpenAI, Google, BytePlus, and similar providers we may add or replace over time. The resulting transcript may also be used for AI analysis if cloud AI analysis is enabled.
By using cloud features, you authorize TextCut and its providers to transmit, store, process, and return your content as needed to provide those features.
4. Your Content
You retain ownership of the videos, audio, transcripts, project files, and other content you import or create with TextCut. You grant TextCut a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, transmit, process, reproduce, and display your content only as needed to operate TextCut, provide requested features, maintain security, comply with law, and improve service reliability.
You represent that you have all rights and permissions needed to upload, process, transcribe, analyze, edit, and export your content using TextCut.
5. Acceptable Use
You may not use TextCut to violate law or rights, process content without permission, create harmful or illegal content, attack or overload TextCut or its providers, extract secrets or security controls, or use TextCut for high-risk decisions where errors could cause significant harm.
6. AI Output and Editing Decisions
AI output may be incomplete, inaccurate, offensive, or unsuitable for your purpose. You are responsible for reviewing transcripts, analysis results, suggested selections, and exports before publishing, sharing, or relying on them.
7. Subscriptions, Credits, and Purchases
Paid features may be offered through auto-renewable subscriptions, usage credits, trials, or one-time purchases. Subscriptions purchased through Apple are billed by Apple and renew unless cancelled through your Apple ID subscription settings before the renewal date.
Usage credits or allowances may be consumed based on video duration, transcription mode, AI analysis mode, or other metering rules shown in the app.
8. Third-Party Services
TextCut relies on third-party services for app distribution, purchases, entitlement management, authentication, hosting, storage, speech recognition, AI analysis, security, and diagnostics. These services may include Apple, RevenueCat, Cloudflare, OpenAI, Google, AWS, BytePlus, Qwen.ai, and other providers.
Third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. TextCut is not responsible for third-party services except to the extent required by applicable law.
9. Updates and Availability
We may modify, suspend, limit, or discontinue any part of TextCut, including features, models, providers, plans, usage limits, or cloud availability.
10. Intellectual Property
TextCut, including the app, cloud service, design, software, trademarks, documentation, and related materials, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by law. You receive a limited license to use TextCut through Apple-authorized distribution channels.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how TextCut collects, uses, shares, and stores information. By using TextCut, you agree that we may process information as described in the Privacy Policy.
12. Termination
You may stop using TextCut at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, create risk for TextCut or others, misuse cloud resources, fail to pay for paid features, or if continued service becomes commercially, legally, or technically impractical. Termination does not automatically cancel an App Store subscription.
13. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TextCut is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, TextCut and its operators, affiliates, employees, contractors, licensors, and providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages.
14. Apple Terms
If you download TextCut from the Mac App Store, your use of TextCut is also subject to Apple's applicable App Store terms. Apple is not responsible for TextCut or its content.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as updating the app, website, or terms date.
